Mum, Mum, Mummy

Today I had a moment kind of like* this:

I decide to check my phone. I had only checked it about 30 minutes ago, and since then I hadn't heard anything. Maybe it was on silent...

12 MISSED CALLS. 15 NEW TEXT MESSAGES.

Wow. 12 missed calls in 30 minutes, y'all? For a split second I think WOW, I am soo loved. Then, I realise they are all from my son and home phone.

At this moment I start freaking out. My heart starts beating and I start to mummy-panic. Just as I am about to call him back, my phone starts ringing.

"Mum, don't freak out but..."

The world stops around me. My palms are sweating. My heart is beating out of my chest. I am at 11 on the mummy-panic scale.

"The dishwasher is making funny noises!"

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?

*Not really - but my kids just looove that clip ;)

  1. My kids, who are not aloud to watch that show, reenact that clip on me constantly. Damn teens saw it and taught the 6 year old the pleasures of torturing mommy.
It's funny how such a sense of relief that everyone is safe can put a on the fritz dishwasher into perspective.

  2. @WeaselMomma I don't let my kids watch Family Guy, either. They also found it on the net and thinks it's hilarious to try it on me. I usually have the same "WHAAAAAAT!" reaction.

  4. We do that to my mom all the time!!!! It's sooo funny.

One time, I admit, I thought our dishwasher was some kind of animal in the middle of the night. Maybe a similar thing happened at your house? Hehe.
